Beautiful Pollinator Clock-Tower Gardens
Thanks to the Weedless Wednesday crew: Theresa Miller, Carol Ferguson ,Carol Robertson, Elizabeth Niederhauser and Hazel Farley, the Clock Tower Gardens are spectacular. * A special Thank you to Carol Ferguson who took these spectacular photos at 6:00am to get the best light.
The Crew would love all our members to visit and enjoy the garden that is in now in full bloom. It has been a labour of love, especially during these Covid times and the crew would be delighted to share that love and passion with you.
Originally, pollinator recommended species were planted, but in the last two years, more native plants have been used and the results are stunning. The native plants have thrived beyond expectations, yielding new colours, lusher growth and beautiful shapes.
As an example, Theresa points out the Monarda (Bee Balm). The cultivated version didn't show much change from it's original size after three years, but the native Monarda, planted only last year, after Paul LaPorte's visit, has formed a beautiful mound and displays lovely lavender flowers. The huge clump of native coreopsis was also planted last year.
